Dr. Bill Proctor and Terry Huckaby need at least two more pieces of the puzzle if their efforts to bring reform to the Katy I.S.D. and higher levels of accountability for the superintendent of schools. After almost a year in office, Henry Dibrell’s commitment to reform remains a huge question mark. Because of this, May’s election has to be two-for-two with no room for error.
It seems apparent that former Katy I.S.D. educator and principal Terri Majors will announce for one of two positions open in May’s school board race. Let’s be clear. If the status quo wins even one of the two positions, the push for reforms will be gravely harmed.
The impending candidacy of Terri Majors should be received by everyone who values reform and accountability as one deserving the strongest of support. She absolutely has mine.
Let me be the first to write that Terri needs a straight up shot against either the incumbent she chooses to oppose or that incumbent’s administrative-approved heir apparent. If you are considering a race for the school board and you believe that the reform movement must continue, please consider the impact of whatever decision you make on the threat that a divide and conquer election would have.
Let the status quo divide and conquer their votes. Without any reservation whatsoever, Terri Majors needs to be elected as a member of the Katy I.S.D. school board in May.
We will deal with noting her obvious knowledge and skills in the future. She has proved herself to be a courageous leader in her efforts since her retirement from the school district.
With Proctor and Huckaby, the genuine reform effort that so many have sought for so long is underway. Terri Majors’ future role will be pivotal.
The challenge now is to coalesce around one other candidate in the second position. This is a time for everyone who values reform to set aside egos and personal desires. We need two strong and viable candidates to run in this system that allows a minority of voters to choose a school board member.
Terri Major is absolutely the best qualified for one of these positions.
For those of you working on this behind the scenes, please coalesce behind one more and put up an unbeatable pair of candidates in May recognizing that Terri Majors one of those.

I also endorse Teri Majors and told her so last week. I will be supporting her campaign and campaigning for and with her. She is a fine CHRISTIAN lady who will be a great asset to our School Board. I am proud of her ceaseless courage to step up and make her voice heard on behalf of the children and teachers and parents of this District. GOD BLESS TERI MAJORS.
It will be great to have someone else with an educational background and knowledge of how Frailey operates behind the scene. I advise everyone to get and support this delightful lady in her run to bring needed change to KISD BOT.
During the 01-23-12 meeting, the KISD Board of Trustees approved boundary modifications for several elementary schools in the western portion of the district. While we, in my LUZ, are pleased that we will remain at our school we are shocked that Griffin will remain well below capacity for a decade while Stanley must struggle with overcrowding for a decade. This is not Stanley expected when they campaigned for the bond measure in 2010.
Where does Terri Majors stand on the issue of balanced enrollment?
Where does Terry Majors stand on the issue of use of Bond funds?
My question is the same as mike swift. How does Terri Majors stand on the use of bonds?
I think more the question to ask her is, “What does she think about the passing of the last bond that should not of went thru at the time of our last election?”
NOTE: Look, here’s some advice. The last bond election passed. It’s over. My belief is that Terri was like a lot of folks - support schools as needed but thought that one was excessive.
Regardless, Terri wants reform and either incument Shaw or his stoogie replacement will be for no accountability for Frailey. Politics comes down to a choice. I think Terri will be an outstanding choice. For those who may have some problem with a given issue, they’ll either choose to support Terri or a defender of the status quo. Not much of a choice there.
I am sure that Terri will be asked and then answer questions about the last bond issue. Regardless of her answer, the choice will still be her or a Frailey acolyte.
I think that Terri would make a great School Board Member. It was just a question. I was not putting her down. I do however care about my Taxes when we are one of the highest for school taxes. We as tax payers have to foot these Bonds that pass.
