Beyond endorsing a political carpetbagger, hot shot lawyer, and Rick Perry acolyte in the race to replace Bill Callegari in the Texas House, there are more reasons than this and political guru and kingmaker Steve Hotze’s formal endorsement of Harvey Hilderbran over Katy’s Glenn Hegar that guarantees that his ‘endorsinista’ operation will come under real scrutiny from George Scott Reports.
First, let me say that I have good political sources. That’s the reason that I was able to write my column Sunday predicting Hotze’s actions and putting the whole Allen Blakemore-Michael Schofield-Steve Hotze relationship issue on my front burner. In fact, I could have written and published the column many weeks ago.
Beyond the race for local state representative job that features candidates Ann Hodge, Michael Franks, and Justin Perryman and beyond Hotze’s endorsement of Hilderbran over Glenn Hegar, there are some really stunning endorsements released by Hotze Monday.
It is my immediate assessment based upon a couple of decades or more of what Harris County and statewide politics that some of Hotze’s endorsement rise to the level of bizarre totally disassociated from the conservative political values that Hotze says underpins his political views.
The good thing about Hotze doing what many predicted he would do – endorse a political carpetbagger with no prior ties to the Katy community to represent us in the Legislature – his endorsements include some races for which I absolutely have no personal dog in the hunt.
With one exception, I am not going to identify those races in my column today. That involves Hotze’s stunning endorsement of judicial candidate and incumbent Judge Denise Pratt. For that background starting today, I am going to direct you to www.bigjollypolitics.com and the Houston Press. Hotze’s endorsement of Pratt should be offensive and absurd to most voters.

Mind boggling. Hotze endorsed embattled and incompetent Judge Denise Pratt. Read the latest on her here. Just mind boggling that anyone who cares about getting Republicans elected in November would endorse Pratt. Hopefully the voters in the primary will ignore Hotze on this one.
Incidentally, guess who is Judge Pratt’s go to media consultant. Why, it’s Allen Blakemore. As the noted philosopher Gomer Pyle once said: “Surprise, surprise, surprise…”
The Hotze-endorsed races that I will be focused upon initially make absolutely no sense to me unless there is something more than conservative politics in play. On the political surface, these particular endorsements are outright goofy.
Sorry for being cryptic today about which of these Hotze-endorsed races I will be targeting for special analysis and research. I won’t be cryptic long.
Sometimes conservatives are their own worst enemies. It is sad but true that these slate-like endorsements carry weight during primaries. This time, however, Hotze may have taken steps that will bring unparalleled scrutiny to the overall process by a lot more people than in the past. My scrutiny starts with Hotze’s goofy endorsements in races that I have absolutely no personal interest other than as a voter.
